Members of a not for profit business networking group in Market Harborough have chosen a new chairperson. Paul Marks (40) from Michael Paul Accountants Ltd has just begun his new role, replacing Stuart Beard who has been at the helm of Working Breakfast for the past six months.
Paul was a founding member of Working Breakfast at its inception in Market Harborough two and a half years ago, holding the post of treasurer. He will continue in this role, but will now combine it with that of chair. The group meet every Wednesday morning at the Angel Hotel and it is estimated that its members have passed over 6,000 leads and generated over £500,000 worth of new business together since forming in 2010.
Paul, who lives in Caxton Street is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and joint owner of Lamport based Michael Paul Accountants. “It’s a great honour to be appointed chair of Working Breakfast,” he comments. “The group plays an important role in generating business in the local area and is a significant part of my working week. It’s a reassuring support system for local companies, providing the opportunity to find useful leads.”
The independent group was formed by local business owners as a way of generating new business leads as well as making local links and helping each other grow their companies. The group, which has around 20 regular members plus guests, uses the revenue generated to fund local projects such as the successful ‘Start-up Harborough’ event which they will be organising for the second year this September.
“Start up Harborough was a real success last year; it’s great to help local businesses and I am looking forward to the day, especially as chair. It’s important that local businesses work together to ride out the tough economic situation we all currently face,” he adds.
Working Breakfast always welcomes new members; the first visit is free and includes a cooked English breakfast. Any local companies who are interested should call 01858 44 55 43 to book a free place.
