The importance of numbers
Attendance
Central to the success of the group is attendance. You are expected to be there every week or send somebody to represent your company.
Why is this so important? Firstly, it helps to show that you are running a reliable company which can be trusted. Secondly, if people have leads for you, somebody will be there to collect them. Your presence is your advert, if you are not there you cannot ask for leads and therefore you are unlikely to receive any.
Substitutes
Nobody is expected to attend Working Breakfast every week of the year. We all go on holiday or have to be at other meetings some weeks. On these occasions you should arrange somebody else to take your place. This can be a person from your company, a client or a neighbouring business. We also provide a list of subs; these are people who are not members of Working Breakfast Harborough but who are happy to deliver a 60 second speech on your behalf. Remember, guests will judge the group by how many people are there – if several people are away it creates a poor impression.
Guests
As members of the group we are all encouraged to bring along guests for a free breakfast. We are always looking for new members; without new members the group will stagnate. New members make the group more interesting and increase the number of leads that get passed around the table. You can bring along anybody as a guest, however guests from areas not currently represented around the table are particularly welcome. Also, bear in mind if the trade or profession is already represented around the table they won’t be able to join.
